Strengthening the Voice of Youth through European Projects: WASTEREDUCE on Youth4Sea

28/05/2026

Wastereduce took part in the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme Annual Event 2026 “Youth4Sea” in Ancona, an event dedicated to strengthening the involvement of young people in European cooperation projects and highlighting their role in shaping sustainable solutions for the future.

Bringing together representatives of organisations and institutions from Italy and Croatia, the event provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on how to make Interreg projects more engaging and accessible to younger generations.

Wastereduce was presented as an example of good practice for successfully integrating young people into project implementation and environmental initiatives. Through educational workshops, field activities, and communication actions, the project encourages young participants to play an active role in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.

As part of the “Young Voices” talk show, held together with the projects DEMY-Coop, AquaGuard, MONI.CA, and EcoFoodCycle, Vanja Modrušan shared her experience of working within the Wastereduce project. She underlined the value of European cooperation projects in providing opportunities for learning, international exchange, and active participation in addressing environmental challenges. She also emphasized that enthusiasm, curiosity, and motivation are key drivers for youth engagement and encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunities offered through Interreg programmes.

Wastereduce team members Andrea Badaile, Danijela Poljuha, and Vanja Modrušan participated in the Working Tables sessions focused on strengthening youth engagement in European cooperation projects and promoting sustainable development in the Adriatic region. In addition, Marta Moranzon coordinated the Working TableGreener Together: Commitments for a Sustainable Adriatic”, dedicated to youth contributions to climate action and environmental protection.

It was a valuable opportunity for Wastereduce to participate in the event, exchange experiences with different projects, and contribute to discussions focused on strengthening youth involvement within the Interreg community.
