Training session and the first presentation of Joint Analysis in Romagna region

12/04/2024

Transferring knowledge and experience for eco-cultural tourism development to the local stakeholders is the next step for ETHNIC project partners. That is the conclusion of the 2nd Cross-Border Partner Meeting and 2nd Cross-Border Dissemination Event, which were mainly used for training sessions, presentation of the Joint Analysis, and getting to know hidden parts of the Romagna region in the organisation of Atlantide.

On the first day, partners saw all the landmarks of Bagno di Romagna, experiencing its culture, gastronomy, and nature. From the Captains Pallace now transformed into a spacious library, to the exclusive tour of Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta which has Florentine spirit and paintings from 15th and 16th century, all while sipping magical water and taking a walk through the misterious paths of gnomes.

Tourism potential and good examples

Second day was held in Sarsina and Mercato Saraceno, small towns with slow pace of life and a lot of unused tourism potential. After concluding the training sessions, which involved transferring knowledge and experience about eco-cultural tourism, project partners have the tools to disseminate the information in their areas through the following months.

The training session has put the big focus on good examples of ecotourism, which are Soca valley in Slovenia, Lanzarote island in Spain and Lapland in Finland, while the best of both worlds - ecology and culture - can be find in Findhorn ecovillage in Scottland, within Sami people of Scandinavia and in Soomaa National park in Estonia. These are the ideals ETHNIC project is striving to through its activities.

In Sarsina, project partners visited all the landmarks - mainly the Museo Archeologico Sarsinate and impressive archaeological findings, which were discovered accidentaly after one earthquake. Mausoleums, statues, and monuments were a real attraction, just as a lively Plauto Piazza and Basilica di San Vicinio. On the other hand, Mercato Saraceno gave a headonistic view on the valleys and vineyards. Two years ago, this area got the title City of Wine, because of its 5 wineries and its famous sort of Sangiovese.

Workshops will commence in all areas

Mercato Saraceno was also the place of first presentation of the Joint Analysis, where all the differences, similarities and characteristics of all areas was putted into perspective for ETHNIC project partners. The last day Italian journey in Romagna region ended with a final meeting and a press conference with the local decision-makers in Palazzo del Capitano. The central point was the workshop modules which will soon commence in all four partners areas. Through these workshops the local stakeholders will see the benefits of the project ETHNIC, learning how to develop and then promote eco-cultural tourism and tourist products.

The first results of these thematic workshops will be presented in the next cross-border meeting in July, when Tourist Board Ravni kotari will be the host.
