PP5 City of Dubrovnik Pilot Area: Park Forest Velika and Mala Petka

22/07/2026

Located on the Lapad Peninsula, Park Forest Velika and Mala Petka is one of Dubrovnik’s most valuable natural areas and an important green oasis within the city. Characterized by Mediterranean vegetation, diverse habitats, walking trails and panoramic views of the Adriatic coast, the area represents a valuable natural and recreational space for both residents and visitors.

As an urban forest surrounded by a growing city environment, Velika and Mala Petka plays an important role in preserving biodiversity, enhancing quality of life and protecting Dubrovnik’s natural heritage. At the same time, prolonged dry periods and changing climate conditions increase the vulnerability of the area to wildfire risks.

Within the Digital Plan project, the City of Dubrovnik pilot area aims to support improved monitoring and management of climate-related risks through the use of digital solutions. The project contributes to strengthening preparedness and resilience by providing better access to environmental information and supporting more effective decision-making for the protection of natural areas and local communities.
