From May 11 to 13, 2026, the II International Workshop on Rugulopteryx okamurae took place in Ceuta (Spain), bringing together over 50 global experts to tackle the management of this highly invasive macroalga—one of the core target species of the Interreg Italy–Croatia ALIENA Project.
Dr. Nicola Ungaro from ARPA Puglia presented the project's latest monitoring results, sharing crucial data on how we are tracking and managing the species. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity to exchange best practices, strengthen research networks, and build shared strategies.
By joining forces with international institutions, the ALIENA Project continues to spearhead solutions to protect the biodiversity of the Adriatic and Mediterranean Seas.
