“Taste the Destination” Brings Local Stories and Flavours to Life in Este

The third stage of the “Taste the Destination – Territori in Azione” pathway was successfully held in Este, Veneto Region, Italy, within the framework of the Interreg Italy–Croatia GUSTI project.
Hosted at Salumificio Giovanni Fontana, the event featured a fully booked immersive mystery dinner that combined local gastronomy, territorial storytelling and community participation. Citizens, businesses, institutions and other local stakeholders were brought together through an engaging experience designed to showcase the identity, traditions and cultural heritage of the destination.
The event also marked the conclusion of a two-day territorial residency involving students from Smart Innovation School. Working alongside VenicePromex, Spin Life and local stakeholders, the students explored sustainable tourism, destination storytelling and local development through workshops, field activities, meetings and direct exchanges with local businesses.
The initiative demonstrated how participatory and experiential approaches can strengthen cooperation between communities, institutions and tourism stakeholders while contributing to the development of more sustainable and attractive destinations.
The pathway will conclude with the final event, “Unlock the Destination”, which will take place on 7 July 2026 at Corte Zecchina in Piove di Sacco, Italy. The programme will include a territorial treasure hunt, local food experiences and the presentation of the students’ project work developed throughout the initiative.
