The Summer School involved around 14 lecturers and contributors from prestigious international institutions and organizations, including the Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB), CMCC, ARPA FVG, ARPA Puglia, Bluefarm, IOF, Regione Puglia, and the University of Pula, and more than 30 students from different countries.
The highly qualified and multidisciplinary programme addressed key topics related to the protection of marine ecosystems, including the monitoring of invasive species, plankton biodiversity, the environmental and economic impacts of NIS, molecular analysis techniques, and forecasting and dispersal modelling tools based on Copernicus data.
Practical activities included field sampling of plankton, macroalgae, and jellyfish, microscopy observations, DNA extraction and PCR demonstrations, as well as interdisciplinary discussions and international networking opportunities.
An intensive and inspiring educational experience that combined scientific research, innovation, and international cooperation, strengthening dialogue among institutions, research organizations, and young scholars committed to the protection of the Adriatic Sea.
