Nature-Based Solutions and Replication Pathways Discussed at AcquaGuard Workshop in Karlovac

On 25 February 2026, the AcquaGuard project organised an expert workshop “Selection of NbS Solutions and Replication” in Karlovac, bringing together representatives of public institutions, experts, and key stakeholders.
The workshop focused on the practical application of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) for flood risk reduction in Karlovac County. Participants reviewed the project’s NbS Portfolio and discussed its feasibility, integration into planning processes, and potential for replication.
Through interactive group work, stakeholders analysed local challenges, identified suitable solutions, and explored implementation barriers and possible ways to overcome them.
This workshop was part of a broader series of stakeholder workshops organised within the project, aimed at strengthening capacities and supporting the application and replication of NbS across the programme area.
The workshop confirmed a strong interest in NbS and highlighted their relevance for climate adaptation, while also emphasising the need for stronger coordination and integration into strategic planning.
Participants evaluated the workshop very positively, with an overall score of 4.83/5, highlighting the quality of content and the value of knowledge exchange.
