On 10 March 2026, IRENA – Istrian Regional Energy Agency Ltd. hosted the SUMMA project workshop alongside the final conference of the Interreg Central Europe project JETforCE, bringing together around 70 partners, experts, institutional representatives and local stakeholders. The event took place at the Labin City Library and aimed to connect European project results with concrete local challenges and solutions related to sustainable mobility and just energy transition.
SUMMA Workshop: Sustainable Mobility Solutions for the Labin Area
As part of the programme, the SUMMA project workshop focused on sustainable mobility solutions for the Labin area and its surrounding municipalities.
Participants were presented with the results of the study on establishing a transport-optimised public transport network for the City of Labin, which includes proposals for improving connections between Labin and neighbouring municipalities. In addition, conceptual solutions were presented for strengthening the link between Podlabin and Labin Old Town, aiming to improve accessibility and mobility within the urban area.
The interactive format of the workshop enabled an open discussion among transport planners, decision-makers, experts and local stakeholders. Participants exchanged perspectives on the feasibility of the proposed solutions, discussed local mobility needs and identified potential challenges related to the implementation of sustainable transport measures.
The workshop confirmed the importance of cooperation between local authorities, experts and citizens when designing mobility solutions that respond to real needs while contributing to environmental sustainability and improved quality of life.
The event also hosted the final conference of the Interreg Central Europe project JETforCE, dedicated to the topic of just energy transition. During the conference, project partners presented the main results and lessons learned from the project, with a particular focus on the challenges of energy poverty and the inclusion of vulnerable groups in the energy transition process. The conference included a panel discussion on “Energy Transition Accessible to All”, where representatives of public institutions, energy agencies and civil society organisations discussed how to ensure that the transition towards a sustainable energy system remains fair, inclusive and accessible to all citizens.
On the following day, 11 March 2026, the partnership held a project meeting in the Great Council Hall of the City of Labin, which included sessions of the Steering Committee and Technical Committee, where partners discussed the current status of the project and the next steps towards its completion. During the meeting, partners presented updates on the progress of pilot actions implemented in the partner regions, exchanged experiences and discussed the results achieved so far. Particular attention was also given to communication and dissemination activities, including the visibility of project results and the final communication outputs planned for the last phase of the project. The meeting provided an important opportunity for partners to align activities, review progress and ensure the successful completion of the project objectives.
Events such as this demonstrate how European cooperation projects can support concrete local initiatives, bringing together expertise, ideas and stakeholders from different sectors.
By linking project knowledge with local challenges, the SUMMA and JETforCE initiatives contribute to the development of more sustainable, accessible and inclusive solutions for energy and mobility across European regions.
