Unlock the Destination: the Taste the Destination pathway concludes in Veneto

After successful territorial activations in Noventa Padovana, Abano Terme and Este, the Taste the Destination – Territori in Azione pathway will reach its final stage with Unlock the Destination, taking place on 6–7 July 2026 in Piove di Sacco, Veneto (Italy).

Developed by CESCOT Veneto within the framework of the GUSTI – Gastro UpScaled Tourist Itinerary in Rural Regions of Croatia and Italy project, co-financed by the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme, the initiative represents the final step of a territorial experimentation aimed at promoting sustainable tourism through stakeholder engagement, local gastronomy, experiential activities and community participation.

The public event will take place on 7 July at Agriturismo Corte Zecchina, bringing together citizens, businesses, institutions and local stakeholders for an afternoon dedicated to discovering the territory in an engaging and participatory way.

At the heart of the event is Unlock the Destination, an experiential territorial treasure hunt designed to encourage participants to explore the Valle Millecampi through challenges, clues and collaborative activities inspired by the area's landscapes, traditions and local identity. Rather than simply visiting the destination, participants will actively interact with it, discovering its natural, cultural and gastronomic assets while working together to solve the different stages of the experience.

The afternoon will continue with local food tastings, networking opportunities and the presentation of the GUSTI Project and of the results achieved through the Taste the Destination pathway.

The event has already reached full capacity, confirming the strong interest generated by participatory experiences capable of connecting tourism, local heritage and community engagement.

A two-day residency focused on sustainable destination development

The programme begins on 6 July with a territorial residency involving students from Smart Innovation School.

Throughout the two-day experience, participants will explore the Valle Millecampi by e-bike, discover its natural and cultural heritage, meet local stakeholders and take part in workshops on Slow Tourism and destination development organised in collaboration with Spinlife.

By combining field activities, dialogue with local actors and collaborative learning, the residency gives students the opportunity to experience first-hand how sustainable tourism can become a driver for local development.

Building stronger destinations together

Over the past months, the Taste the Destination pathway has brought together local authorities, businesses, researchers, schools, tourism operators and citizens in a shared process of territorial activation across the Veneto Region.

By combining education, stakeholder engagement, storytelling and experiential tourism, the initiative has tested practical approaches that can inspire other rural destinations participating in the GUSTI Project.

The final event in Piove di Sacco represents not only the conclusion of the Veneto pathway, but also a tangible example of how GUSTI promotes cooperation between communities while transforming local heritage into meaningful and sustainable tourism experiences.
