Expert Workshop: "Selection of NbS - Solutions and Replication” to Be Held within the AcquaGuard Project
Within the framework of the AcquaGuard – Nature-based Solutions for Flood Prevention project, funded under the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 Programme, an expert workshop entitled “Selection of NbS - Solutions and Replication” will be held on 25 February 2026 in Karlovac.
The workshop will take place at Kino Edison (Šetalište dr. Franje Tuđmana 13, Karlovac) from 10:00 to 14:00, with participant registration starting at 9:30.

About the Workshop:
As part of the project, a Portfolio of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS Portfolio) for flood prevention has been developed, including identified climate change adaptation measures relevant to the project areas.
The objective of the workshop is to jointly review the proposed NbS solutions in the context of Karlovac County, with a particular focus on:
- their acceptability and feasibility under local conditions
- opportunities for integration into spatial and strategic planning
- potential barriers and necessary preconditions for implementation
- possibilities for replication and transfer of solutions to other areas
The Programme Includes:
- presentation of climate change impacts and related risks in Karlovac County
- overview of the NbS catalogue for flood prevention
- focus group work aimed at selecting appropriate solutions for specific areas
- identification of potential implementation barriers and proposed solutions
- discussion of results and preconditions for replication
The workshop will be facilitated by Urbanex Ltd.
We invite all relevant stakeholders to participate and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience in the application of nature-based solutions for flood risk reduction.
