Promoting Sustainable Careers through the WASTEREDUCE Project

29/07/2026

Sunce Association participated in two career-focused events – the first Career Day at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, and the Blue Careers Days – Sea of Opportunities, Find Your Path! event in Zadar. On both events Sunce introduced students to career opportunities in the civil society sector and highlighted the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.

During both events, Sunce presented the work of Sunce Association, our different programme areas, and the projects through which we contribute to nature conservation, with a special focus on the WASTEREDUCE project, implemented under the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme. Sunce highlighted that the project aims to improve waste management in protected areas and Natura 2000 sites through monitoring, prevention, and mitigation measures, while promoting innovative and digital solutions for more effective waste management.

Visitors learned about the importance of responsible waste management and the environmental challenges caused by improperly disposed waste, particularly its impact on biodiversity and protected natural areas. Sunce also showcased how WASTEREDUCE supports the development of improved waste management strategies, raises public awareness, and strengthens cooperation among stakeholders to protect the environment.

Sunce was especially encouraged by the strong interest shown by students, who expressed genuine enthusiasm for contributing to environmental protection and building a more sustainable future. Events like these highlight the importance of introducing young people to diverse career opportunities in the environmental sector and inspiring them to use their knowledge and skills to create positive change.
