On 21 July 2026, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb will host the workshop "BRIGANTINE – Toward the Future: Assessing Opportunities for SME–Research Institution Partnerships in Advanced Marine Technologies." The event brings together researchers, industry representatives and innovation stakeholders to discuss future collaboration opportunities in the blue economy and strengthen links between scientific research and business innovation.
The workshop forms part of the BRIGANTINE project's commitment to promoting cross-border cooperation and supporting technology transfer across the Northern Adriatic region. Through presentations from project partners, participating organisations will showcase ongoing research activities, technological developments and practical applications in advanced marine technologies, highlighting their potential to address environmental and industrial challenges.
The programme features contributions from BRIGANTINE partners, including CIM IRB, the University of Udine (UNIUD) and CORILA, alongside presentations from innovative SMEs and complementary research initiatives. The exchange of experiences will provide participants with an opportunity to identify common interests, discuss future research directions and explore new partnerships capable of transforming scientific knowledge into innovative products and services.
In addition to the technical sessions, participants will visit the Faculty's research facilities, including its experimental vessels and towing tank, offering first-hand insight into the infrastructure supporting marine engineering research and innovation. The workshop will conclude with an open discussion on future cooperation, reinforcing the BRIGANTINE project's objective of building a lasting network between academia, industry and public stakeholders to foster innovation and sustainable growth in the marine sector.
