Blue Education, Training and Culture: theoretical lessons for professionals in Chioggia

27/06/2026

On June 25th, Italian and Croatian small-scale fishermen gathered at Palazzo Grassi in Chioggia, and remotely, to take part in an interregional professional training session on biodiversity and Blue Economy, organized by the University of Padova and Eduforma, as part of WP3 of BlueDiversity.

A concrete example of how research and professional communities can connect, exchange ideas, and work toward a shared goal: studying and protecting our marine environment.

The activities in Chioggia

During the session, participants were introduced to European regulations, Blue Economy principles, and the BlueDiversity project and its objectives.
And with the help of VR headsets, they had the chance to fully immerse themselves in the BlueDiversity pilot areas to see, for example, how sampling activity is carried out by our researchers during blue crab monitoring fieldwork.

All training material and immersive experiences will be soon available to the public on the Blue E-learning platform: stay tuned!
