🌊 BRAVE Newsletter #1 is Online! Join Our Journey to Protect the Adriatic Sea

The BRAVE project has officially launched its communication voyage with the publication of our very first newsletter: "Voices of a Shared Sea". Written from the waterfront, this first issue marks the beginning of a 36-month cross-border alliance between 13 partners from Italy and Croatia, all dedicated to enhancing the resilience of our shared marine ecosystem.
What’s inside Issue #1?
- The Ghost in the Net: An in-depth look at how climate change and warming waters are turning our coastal lagoons into a paradise for invasive alien species, like the Atlantic Blue Crab, and how our upcoming Blue Labs will help small-scale fishers adapt.
- Decoding the Language of Water: The official activation of the multidisciplinary Adriatic Advisory Committee (AAC). Our scientific teams are already in the field—from the Marano and Grado lagoons to the Dalmatian coast—using cutting-edge environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling to track biodiversity.
- The Soundscapes of the Adriatic: A cultural dive into the traditional Italian Canti di pesca and UNESCO-protected Croatian Klapa singing, exploring how art has always helped us make sense of the sea's vulnerabilities.
Shape the Future with Us
By 2028, the data we collect will power an open-access Smart Digital Platform designed to safeguard the Adriatic. But technology is nothing without community. We need fishers, scientists, policymakers, and citizens to navigate these waters together.
