Every project begins with meeting people, ideas, and places. It is from this encounter that a new international experience takes shape, bringing together two schools united by a shared commitment to promoting agriculture, innovation, and sustainability.
This project is born from exactly that moment: the meeting of two high-schools, two communities, and one common goal, to explore how agriculture, innovation, and sustainability can grow together while creating new opportunities for young people.
Before the activities begin, we would like to introduce the partner schools that take part in this journey of learning, growth, and exchange.
From tradition to sustainability: Srednja Škola Jelsa
Founded in 1967 on the island of Hvar, the school has been a key educational institution for more than fifty years, providing vocational training in tourism, hospitality, and agritourism.
Deeply rooted in its local community, the school successfully combines tradition and innovation in its daily activities. Since 2012, through its Agritourism Technician programme, students have learned to view agriculture not only as a productive sector but also as a central element of a broader system that connects the environment, culture, and sustainable tourism.
Learning often extends beyond the classroom, becoming hands-on experience. Students engage in traditional aromatic herb distillation, dry stone wall construction, visits to local wineries, and participation in community events, all of which provide valuable opportunities to discover and preserve the island's cultural and natural heritage.
From local roots to future education: IIS De Nicola
Since 1971, IIS De Nicola has supported the educational development of students in the Padua area, continuously adapting its programmes to meet the evolving challenges of education.
The school has built its identity around values such as inclusion, sustainability, innovation, and the promotion of local culture, offering educational pathways that successfully combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
The programme Agriculture, Rural Development, Enhancement of Local Products, and Management of Forest and Mountain Resources prepares students to understand and manage the agricultural and agri-food sectors with a strong focus on product quality, environmental protection, and the enhancement of local resources.
The participants in this new experience
Following the collaboration between the two schools, twenty students have been selected to participate in the project. These young participants are ready to engage in an international experience based on cooperation, learning, and the discovery of new perspectives.
Together, they will experiment practical activities, teamwork, and exchange sessions to explore how digital technologies can be applied to agriculture and how they can help reduce environmental impact while supporting the transition towards more sustainable farming practices.
A journey that begins at school, connects local communities, and looks towards the future—because the agriculture of tomorrow is built through collaboration and the ideas of today's young generation.
