Final Conference Held in Zadar

The final conference of the BEYOND – Blue Economy sYnergies fOr sustaiNable Development project was held in Zadar, Croatia, bringing together representatives of public authorities, research institutions, businesses, and project partners from Croatia and Italy to present the project's achievements and discuss the future of offshore wind energy and the Blue Economy in the Adriatic.
Implemented under the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme, the BEYOND project aims to strengthen synergies between sustainable Blue Economy development and marine environmental protection by exploring the potential of offshore wind energy and promoting innovative approaches to maritime spatial planning and cross-border cooperation.
The conference featured expert presentations and panel discussions focusing on the opportunities and challenges of offshore renewable energy development in the Adriatic. Participants highlighted the region's significant offshore wind potential and the importance of developing appropriate regulatory frameworks, infrastructure, and collaborative approaches to support sustainable growth.
Special attention was given to the coexistence of offshore energy with marine ecosystems and traditional maritime activities. Discussions explored how offshore renewable energy can contribute to the development of the Blue Economy while supporting marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, and new economic opportunities for coastal communities.
The event also underlined the importance of continued cooperation between Croatian and Italian stakeholders in addressing shared challenges and promoting innovative solutions for the sustainable management of the Adriatic Sea. Through the BEYOND project, valuable knowledge, tools, and partnerships have been developed to support future initiatives in offshore renewable energy and sustainable Blue Economy development.
The final conference marked the successful completion of the BEYOND project and reaffirmed the commitment of all partners to fostering a more sustainable, resilient, and innovative future for the Adriatic region.
