Digital and ICT solution supporting sustainable monitoring and data sharing

This activity refers to the planning, designing and making available a set of digital and ICT innovative solutions for cycling data collection and sharing as well as monitoring purposes of the INTERREG Italy Croatia CYROS project. The focus, in particular, is on the different cycle flow monitoring technologies available for local and regional public authorities. The goal is to guide the public stakeholders in selecting the best monitoring technology for its own context, considering the strengths and the weaknesses related to each technology.
The present document is intended to support public authorities, in particular municipalities in the
CYROS territories and at the EU level, by providing the most up-to-date overview possible of the
technologies currently available on the market for monitoring cycling flows, highlighting the respective strengths and weaknesses of each solution.
The installation of cycling flow monitoring systems by public authorities is necessary in order to generate quantitative evaluation indicators related to infrastructure interventions and facilities
implemented to support cycling mobility. The definition of such indicator sets also enables regional decision-makers to assess the effectiveness of incentive policies adopted to promote cycling and to guide future funding priorities in support of cycling mobility.
