On 13 March 2026, at the Development Center of Lika-Senj County in Gospić, we held the 2nd round of the Living Lab within the CAMPUS project – Climate Adaptation Plans for UNESCO Sites (ID: ITHR0200358), implemented under the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 Programme.
At the beginning of the workshop, participants were welcomed by the Director of the Public Institution Development Agency of Lika-Senj County – LIRA, Andrija Brkljačić, who emphasized the importance of cooperation among local stakeholders in the climate change adaptation process. He also highlighted that projects such as CAMPUS contribute to raising awareness of climate challenges and developing concrete solutions for the protection of valuable natural sites.
The workshop was organized for the UNESCO site of Plitvice Lakes National Park, with the aim of continuing cooperation with local stakeholders in the development of climate change adaptation plans. The second round of the Living Lab was moderated by Ivan Carević, who facilitated the discussion and participants’ work. During the meeting, we presented an overview of the results from the first Living Lab round as well as the identified climate risks that may affect the site. In the central part of the workshop, participants discussed possible adaptation measures and assessed their effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability. Through a joint exchange of views, we further developed proposals for measures that can contribute to the long-term protection of the site’s natural values and strengthen its resilience to climate change.
The collected proposals and conclusions will provide an important contribution to the further development of the Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Plitvice Lakes National Park, which is being developed within the CAMPUS project.
