Within the framework of the activities planned by the FORTIC project, the Municipality of Cervia is implementing two educational programmes addressed to local schools, aimed at raising awareness of the local defensive heritage linked to the Second World War and encouraging reflection among younger generations on themes such as democracy, peace, and human rights.
Some activities have already started, while others are currently ongoing or scheduled in the upcoming weeks.
The two programmes are closely connected and involve, on different dates, eight classes from two lower secondary schools in Cervia, IC 2 and IC 3. The first programme consists of classroom workshops entitled “Educating on Human Rights”, held by the non-profit organization Teatro del Drago. Through interactive group activities, students are encouraged to reflect on the importance of communication in conflict situations and on possible conflict-resolution strategies, addressing themes such as peace, violence, and human rights. The first meeting, involving part of the participating classes, was successfully held on 12 March 2026, while the sessions with the remaining classes are scheduled by the end of the school year.
The second programme instead, consists of eight guided visits, scheduled in May and June, to the Second World War defensive heritage, with particular focus on the bunkers and “dragon’s teeth” located along the seafront of Milano Marittima. Through these on-site visits, the integrated programme aims to strengthen the civic and historical reflection initiated in the classroom workshops, fostering among students a critical understanding of the area’s wartime heritage while promoting the values of peace, historical awareness, and active citizenship, which are the core of the FORTIC project.
