As part of the H2LO Festival 2026, an interactive lecture was held focusing on the connection between fast fashion, microplastics, and the marine environment.
The presentation explored how synthetic textiles, textile waste, and everyday washing habits contribute to microplastic pollution in seas and oceans. Special attention was given to the environmental impact of the fashion industry, including water pollution, excessive consumption, and the short life cycle of clothing in today’s fast-fashion culture.
Participants were encouraged to reflect on the hidden environmental footprint behind the clothes we wear and the importance of sustainable consumption, reuse, and responsible everyday choices.
The event also highlighted the value of local initiatives promoting clothing exchange, donation, and circular economy practices as practical steps toward reducing textile waste and protecting marine ecosystems.
Through activities such as these, the project continues to support environmental awareness, sustainability education, and the development of skills for a more responsible and sustainable future in marine and coastal environments.
