A powerful example of collaboration, education, and environmental action took place at Rimini Terme on 20 April, 2026, where the MARE Società Cooperativa a r.l., alongside the State Technical Economic Institute “Roberto Valturio”, organized a beach clean-up involving second-year students.
With the support of Cooperativa M.A.R.E., and the active participation of class 4F - already engaged in the project - the initiative combined hands-on action with long-term sustainability thinking.
The impact?
Approximately 200 kg of waste collected, mostly plastic, from key coastal areas including breakwaters, the Marecchia River diversion channel, and Rimini Terme beach.
But the effort didn’t stop there. Back at the institute, students presented a concrete solution to reduce plastic use in daily school life:
Installation of potable water dispensers, now fully operational!
Thanks to the commitment of School Principal Marco Bugli, the support of the Province of Rimini, and collaboration with Adriatica Acque, this initiative will:
- Reduce plastic consumption by at least 28,000+ bottles
- Prevent over 300 kg of plastic waste
To reinforce sustainable habits, 800 reusable water bottles were distributed to students, along with FishNoWaste T-shirts and eco-friendly tote bags.
A big thank you to all speakers, experts, teachers, and students who contributed to making this initiative a success - proving that real change starts from local action and shared responsibility.
