We are pleased to share that Udruga za prirodu, okoliš i održivi razvoj Sunce successfully organized a coastal clean-up action on 20 April, bringing together 31 participants, the majority of whom were school children, alongside representatives from the Public Institution Sea and Karst.
In collaboration with project partners Sunce and Institut za oceanografiju i ribarstvo, the initiative contributed to the protection of coastal ecosystems and raised awareness of marine pollution.
Key results of the action:
- A total of 123.8 kg of waste was collected
- Plastic accounted for the largest share, with 88.7 kg (246 items)
- Glass and ceramics amounted to 21.7 kg (62 items)
These results underline the continued need to reduce waste generation and strengthen environmental stewardship, particularly in marine environments.
The event was organized within the framework of the initiative “FishNoWaste: United for a Sustainable Adriatic Sea,” part of the official programme of the European Commission for European Maritime Day in My Country. Activities were held simultaneously in Split and Chioggia.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants and partners whose engagement made this action possible and impactful.
