Trainings in Dubrovnik: building knowledge to protect the sea

02/04/2026

Within the BIOPRESSADRIA project, training activities represent a fundamental action to strengthen capacities in pilot sites and translate scientific knowledge into effective coastal governance.

The first courses took place between November 2025 and February 2026 at the project's Italian pilot sites, in two different coastal areas: Southern Adriatic (Porto Cesareo Marine Protected Area) and Northern Adriatic (Panzano Bay, Monfalcone).
In Porto Cesareo, through a combination of theoretical sessions and practical field activities, the focus was on strengthening advanced monitoring skills and scientific standardisation. In Monfalcone, also thanks to participatory workshops, the emphasis shifted towards governance, territorial planning, and co-designed management solutions.

The time has now come to introduce the Trainings on the three BIOPRESSADRIA pilot sites on the Croatian side (Kornati Islands, Hvar/Pakleni Islands, waters around Badija and KorČula Island), which will be held in Dubrovnik, Split, and Murter in April, May, and June

The first courses begin on April 9 and 10, 2026, in Dubrovnik. The 2-day training entitled “Planning, Designing, Implementation, and Management of Environmentally Friendly Nautical Anchorages”
The training aims to strengthen the capacities of stakeholders involved in the planning, development, and management of nautical anchorages, with a focus on environmentally friendly systems and the protection of marine habitats, particularly Posidonia meadows.
It is intended for anchorage concessionaires, port authorities, public institutions, planners, and other stakeholders in the maritime, tourism, and environmental sectors.
The program includes expert lectures, good practice examples from Croatia and abroad, and interactive discussions between participants and lecturers.
Over two days, participants will explore planning and design criteria, ecological anchoring systems, technical solutions, and management approaches.
The training also addresses economic aspects and the long-term sustainability of ecological anchorages.

Learn from experts, exchange experiences, and be part of a growing network shaping the future of the Adriatic Sea.
