Fondazione Pino Pascali – Museum of Contemporary Art, as Lead Partner of the SOCRAT project (SOcializing CRaft & contemporary Art for Sustainable Tourism), announces an international call for artists/tutors and creative professionals to participate in the Creative Living Lab (CLL) to be held in Opatija (Croatia) in April 2026.
Through this call, the Lead Partner aims to select one external artist/tutor for the Creative Living Lab.
This CLL is part of a series of 13 Creative Living Labs currently being implemented within the framework of the SOCRAT project across the programme area (Italy and Croatia). The initiative promotes cultural exchange and collaboration between artists, craft professionals, and local communities through immersive ten-day laboratories dedicated to co-creation, dialogue, and sustainable cultural tourism. Each Creative Living Lab focuses on specific sectors and explores the relationship between contemporary artistic practices and local heritage.
Here the upcoming CLL in Opatjia!
Creative Living Lab – Thematic guided tours and painting workshops
This project offers a thematic tour through Opatija’s historic parks centered on the camellia, highlighting its cultural and botanical significance. The experience combines guided exploration of the landscape with artistic practice and local gastronomy.
The tour concludes at the Croatian Museum of Tourism, where participants take part in painting workshops led by local artists while tasting camellia-inspired products, including tea and desserts. Conceived as a restorative and immersive experience, the initiative connects nature, creativity, and gastronomy as a form of gentle therapy aimed at relieving burnout and mental overload.
Rooted in Opatija’s historic tradition as a 19th-century health tourism destination, the Creative Living Lab promotes well-being, local cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism, offering visitors an educational and participatory experience.
