AdriACTIVE engages regional stakeholders in Primorje–Gorski Kotar County

06/03/2026

In early December 2025, PRIGODA – Regional Development Agency of Primorje–Gorski Kotar County, partner of the AdriACTIVE project, organised a series of meetings with important regional stakeholders to introduce the project and explore opportunities for cooperation. The meetings aimed to strengthen institutional engagement and identify areas where stakeholders can contribute to the project’s activities and objectives.

Three meetings were held with representatives of key regional institutions:

  • 3 December 2025 – Department of Culture, Sport and Technical Culture of Primorje–Gorski Kotar County
  • 8 December 2025 – Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje–Gorski Kotar County
  • 9 December 2025 – Faculty of Economics, University of Rijeka

During the meetings, the AdriACTIVE project was presented, including its main objectives, expected results, and planned activities. Participants discussed potential forms of collaboration and the role that regional institutions can play throughout the project’s implementation.

The meeting with the Department of Culture, Sport and Technical Culture highlighted the potential of culture and sport as key drivers for tourism development in the region. Particular attention was given to the possibility of building on existing initiatives such as the Cultural-Tourist Routes of the Frankopans and other cultural heritage projects, including Claustra. Stakeholders also discussed the role of sport events as potential elements for the development of thematic tourism routes.

The discussion with representatives of the Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje–Gorski Kotar County focused on strategic approaches to managing tourism flows, ensuring balanced territorial development across the county, and improving the digitalisation of tourism-related spatial information. Opportunities were also identified to capitalise on previous and ongoing initiatives, including the CRESCO Adria project, which addresses climate-resilient spatial planning and climate change adaptation.

The meeting with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rijeka explored opportunities for cooperation in the preparation of strategic documents and strengthening data coherence within the tourism sector. The Faculty also expressed interest in contributing its research expertise and linking AdriACTIVE activities with its ongoing projects related to tourism development.

These meetings confirmed a strong interest among regional stakeholders to actively participate in AdriACTIVE activities. Their involvement will be further developed in accordance with the project timeline, fostering collaboration that will support the development of sustainable, balanced, and innovative tourism solutions in the Adriatic region.
