Round Table – From the Motovun Forest to the Sea: The Batana Route

26/02/2026

On 24 February 2026, the round table “From the Motovun Forest to the Sea – The Batana Route” took place in Pula, bringing together local institutions, tourism operators and stakeholders in a collaborative setting aimed at actively contributing to the development of a new thematic tourism itinerary in Istria.

Organised by IDA Ltd., the event was held at the Coworking Center Pula. It represented an important step towards achieving the objectives set by the TOFOLA project, fostering dialogue and cooperation around the design and validation of a thematic route connecting the natural and cultural resources of Istria — from the inland landscapes of the Motovun Forest to the Adriatic coast.

Programme

The event opened with welcome remarks and a presentation of the TOFOLA project, outlining the objectives of the round table and its role within the broader project framework.

This was followed by the presentation of the thematic route study “From the Motovun Forest to the Sea – The Batana Route” by Tibor Gašparac (TESH).

The core of the meeting consisted of a moderated round table discussion led by Irena Šker, with contributions from:

- Anteo Milos, Mayor of Novigrad
- Mladen Draguzet, Istra Adventure
- Katarina Dobrić Dabić, Istra Holiday
- Tibor Gašparac, TESH

The discussion focused on the exchange of ideas and experiences related to the creation of a new tourist itinerary linking forests, inland heritage and coastal environments.

By encouraging active participation and constructive dialogue, the round table contributed to shaping and validating a sustainable and culturally rooted tourism experience, strengthening cooperation among local stakeholders and supporting TOFOLA’s broader objective of promoting responsible and inclusive tourism across the Adriatic area.
