As one of the 8 partners in the INTERREG Italy–Croatia project CROSSFREIGHT, Port of Šibenik Authority contributes to joint efforts to strengthen intermodal freight transport and improve rail connections between ports and their hinterland along the TEN-T network.
CROSSFREIGHT project focuses on testing and implementing advanced digital ICT tools to optimize rail links and enhance railway efficiency across 7 rail nodes in Italy and Croatia.
Within this framework, the Port of Šibenik Authority just finalized the Development Plan for Railway Infrastructure and Freight Transport in the Port of Šibenik — a document that defines infrastructure investments and operational measures for stronger integration of the Port of Šibenik into the national and European rail freight system, fully aligned with TEN-T and EU green transport policies. The Plan sets objectives that will enable better railway transport planning and enhanced digital development, which in turn will also achieve a higher level of sustainability in port operations.
The Plan identifies modernization of rail infrastructure, increased digitalization, and targeted investments as key steps toward a more competitive, sustainable, and resilient port.
