The Train-the-Mentors Programme Continues in Omišalj

05/02/2026

Omišalj, Croatia. This week, the ARCHAEODIGIT Joint Train-the-Mentors Programme began in Omišalj, offering participants a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience designed to strengthen mentoring capacity, digital innovation skills, and heritage valorisation practices.

Delivered in English and in a hybrid format, the programme integrates online learning modules with intensive in-person mentoring, creating an environment for active interaction, practical exercises, and collaborative reflection. Participants gradually build mentor–mentee relationships, guided by experts from Juraj Dobrila University of Pula (UPU) and supported by local institutions and external specialists.

The programme gathers selected participants from cultural heritage, tourism, and digital innovation sectors, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and practical skill development. Sessions in Omišalj employ interactive methods including case studies, group simulations, and role plays, with a strong focus on applying digital tools and inclusive approaches to heritage tourism development.

A key feature of the Omišalj sessions is the emphasis on peer-learning networks, where participants share knowledge, experiences, and best practices with colleagues across the Adriatic–Ionian region. This collaborative approach ensures that the programme contributes not only to individual skill development but also to long-term capacity building, strengthening local hubs and promoting sustainable, digitally-enhanced heritage tourism.

Through these activities, the programme lays the foundations for durable mentor–mentee relationships, enabling knowledge transfer and the development of new approaches for inclusive and sustainable cultural tourism, well beyond the project’s lifetime.
