The Train-the-Mentors Programme Continues in Kaštela
04/02/2026
Kaštela, Croatia. The ARCHAEODIGIT Joint Train-the-Mentors Programme officially commenced this week in Kaštela, marking an important step in the project’s mission to strengthen professional capacity, knowledge exchange, and long-term sustainability in the fields of cultural heritage, digital innovation, and tourism.
Delivered in English and in a hybrid format, the programme combies 12 hours of online mentors's training with 96 hours of in-person sessions, designed to balance theoretical learning with practical engagement. Participants gradually develop mentor-mentee relationships, building skills through continuous interaction, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving exercises.
Led by Juraj Dobrila University of Pula (UPU), with the support of local institutions and external experts, the programme brings together participants from ARCHAEODIGIT project partners and local hubs. This diverse group includes professionals from cultural heritage management, tourism development, and digital innovation, creating a rich environment for peer learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.
During the first days in Kaštela, participants engaged in interactive methodologies such as case studies, simulations, and role plays. These hands-on activities aimed to develop mentoring skills, enhance digital competence, and explore innovative approaches to cultural heritage valorisation. Special attention was given to strategies that support inclusive and sustainable heritage tourism, reflecting ARCHAEODIGIT’s broader mission to foster resilient and digitally-enabled cultural tourism networks.
Beyond individual capacity building, the programme fosters long-term collaboration and knowledge transfer across the Adriatic–Ionian region. By strengthening local mentor–mentee networks and encouraging shared learning, the Kaštela sessions contribute to the creation of durable peer-learning structures that will continue to operate beyond the project’s lifespan, ensuring ongoing support for sustainable tourism development and heritage preservation.
