The Train-the-Mentors Programme Starts in Macerata

03/02/2026

Macerata, Italy. The Train-the-Mentors Programme of the ARCHAEODIGIT project officially started in Macerata, marking a significant milestone in the project’s efforts to strengthen skills, knowledge exchange, and long-term capacity in the field of cultural heritage and digital innovation.

Delivered in English and in a hybrid format, the programme combines 12 hours of online mentors’ training with 96 hours of in-person, post-working sessions. This structure is designed to balance theoretical foundations with practical engagement, allowing participants to gradually develop and refine concrete mentor–mentee relationships through continuous interaction, feedback, and shared learning.

Led by Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, with the support of the University of Macerata and a pool of external experts, the programme brings together selected participants from ARCHAEODIGIT project partners and local hubs. This diverse group creates a rich learning environment where different professional backgrounds, local experiences, and perspectives contribute to collective growth.

The first day marked the beginning of an intensive, hands-on learning journey, making use of interactive methodologies such as case studies, group simulations, and role-playing exercises. These tools are specifically designed to enhance participants’ mentoring skills, strengthen their capacity to support digital transformation in cultural heritage, and explore innovative approaches to heritage valorisation and tourism development.

Beyond individual skill development, the mentorship programme aims to establish durable peer-learning and collaboration structures that will continue beyond the project’s lifetime. By empowering mentors and fostering knowledge transfer at local level, the programme contributes to the creation of sustainable, inclusive, and digitally enhanced heritage tourism ecosystems across the ARCHAEODIGIT test areas.
