Climate science supporting climate policies: Information Day in Otranto
On 29 July 2026, the AdriaClimPlus Information Day entitled "Climate Science Supporting Climate Policies – Insights from the AdriaClimPlus Project: Promoting Innovative Research and Actionable Knowledge" will take place at Castello Aragonese in Otranto, Italy.
Organised within the framework of the AdriaClimPlus project, the event will bring together researchers, public authorities, and technical experts to discuss how climate science can support evidence-based climate policies and adaptation strategies for the Adriatic region.
The programme is structured around two thematic sessions. The first will focus on climate risks and the vulnerability of the Adriatic coasts and the Apulian seas, presenting the latest research on climate change projections, coastal monitoring, satellite-based environmental observations, citizen science, and marine variability.
The second session will explore cross-sectoral cooperation and knowledge exchange as key drivers for effective local climate adaptation. Speakers will present experiences related to environmental monitoring, water resource management, and Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs), highlighting the importance of collaboration between scientific institutions and public authorities.
The event will feature contributions from representatives of CMCC Foundation, ARPA Puglia, Regione Puglia, Acquedotto Pugliese, University of Bologna, and other partner organisations, followed by a round-table discussion on building a common framework for climate adaptation along the Italian Adriatic coast.
Throughout the day, participants will also have the opportunity to visit an exhibition area showcasing scientific posters, monitoring tools, climate projection visualisations, geoportal demonstrations, and dissemination materials developed within the AdriaClimPlus project.
