Custom Detail
The Course on Innovative Digital Strategies for structural and infrastructural vulnerability detection is an online event dedicated to the most innovative techniques for assessing the vulnerability of structures and infrastructures exposed to natural hazards.
The program, structured into concise and highly specialized talks, offers an up-to-date overview of the digital methods, tools, and applications for understanding the behavior of buildings and civil engineering structures implemented within the STRENGTH project.
The day opens with Elena Benvenuti (University of Ferrara), introducing the topic outlining the fundamental principles of structural risk evaluation.
Next, Gaia Travan (OGS) presents “Geophysical measurements for seismic and hydraulic vulnerability assessment”, illustrating how geophysical measurements can support the analysis of structural response to seismic and hydraulic phenomena.
The third session, led by Petra Bagavac (University of Split), explores the use of “High-resolution thermal images for training AI systems for structural assessments”, showing how high-definition thermal imagery can feed artificial intelligence models to detect anomalies and degradation.
Following this, Željana Nikolić (University of Split) delves into “Advanced structural risk assessment – Determination and use of seismic fragility curves”, explaining how fragility curves help estimate the probability of damage as a function of seismic intensity.
The technical section concludes with Stefanos Georgiadis (University of Ferrara), presenting “The innovative application of fragility methods to floods – Machine Learning surrogates for predicting and interpreting flood fragility parameters of masonry walls”, focusing on the application of fragility methods to flood phenomena and the use of ML models to interpret the response of masonry walls.
The event closes with an open Questions and Answers Session.
The course is designed for university researchers and students, independent professionals and technicians from public institutions and private organisations interested in monitoring strategies. However, it is open to anyone who may be interested.
Participation is free of charge. Registration is required.
