MILEPORT at the Cross-Fertilisation Event in Trieste
On 25 March 2026, MILEPORT will take part in the joint cross-fertilisation event in Trieste titled:
“Digitalising the Road Last Mile for Ports and Multimodal Freight Terminals. Data Sharing and Interoperability for Efficient Freight Flows.”
The conference is organised by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea in cooperation with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region and the Interporto di Trieste, and under the auspices of the EUSAIR Strategy.
The event will focus on one of the key operational challenges for European logistics systems: improving the management of road freight flows at TEN-T core nodes, particularly ports and multimodal freight terminals. Increasing traffic volumes, congestion at access points and fragmented data exchange continue to affect efficiency and reliability. Digital solutions are therefore essential to optimise truck entry and exit procedures, enhance interoperability and strengthen corridor performance.
Within this framework, MILEPORT will contribute to the dedicated session on synergies among European and national funding instruments, together with ACCESSMILE (Interreg Central Europe), MERIDIAN (CEF Transport), PRESPORT (Interreg Italy–Croatia) and ELODIE (Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan). The event will highlight how complementary initiatives addressing similar challenges in different geographical areas can generate added value through coordination, knowledge exchange and aligned governance approaches.
The programme will combine institutional perspectives, keynote speeches and operational case studies. Among the keynote interventions, the Port of Hamburg will present its experience in integrating real-time slot management, intelligent traffic control and interoperable data interfaces for landside traffic management. The conference will conclude with a round table discussion gathering port authorities, logistics operators and infrastructure managers to debate operational experiences and future perspectives for digital road freight transport.
The event will be organised in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in person and online. The working languages will be Italian and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided.
