Final Conference highlights project achievements and future climate resilience cooperation

The Final Conference successfully took place on 28 July 2026 at the CMCC Foundation headquarters in Lecce, bringing together project partners, researchers, policymakers and stakeholders from Italy and Croatia to reflect on the project's achievements and future opportunities for climate adaptation in the Adriatic region.
The conference marked the culmination of several years of cross-border cooperation dedicated to strengthening climate resilience through scientific research, innovative monitoring systems, advanced climate services and practical adaptation tools for coastal communities.
Project achievements and future perspectives
The morning session provided a comprehensive overview of the project's results and long-term impact.
Representatives of the partnership presented the main achievements delivered across all three work packages, covering advances in climate knowledge, monitoring systems, climate services and stakeholder engagement. The programme also featured invited keynote presentations addressing Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs), coastal climate downscaling and international experiences supporting climate adaptation.
Particular attention was given to the future use of AdriaClimPlus results beyond the project's lifetime and the opportunities for further cooperation across the Adriatic region.
Spotlight on innovation and applied climate science
The afternoon programme showcased the project's scientific and technical achievements through presentations on innovative monitoring networks, climate modelling, remote sensing, FAIR datasets, stakeholder engagement and awareness-raising activities.
The conference also highlighted the importance of translating scientific knowledge into practical solutions that support evidence-based decision-making and strengthen the resilience of coastal communities.
As part of the programme, partners presented the project's outreach and dissemination activities, demonstrating how AdriaClimPlus has successfully promoted climate awareness among public authorities, professionals, researchers, students and local stakeholders throughout the Adriatic area.
Looking ahead
The Final Conference concluded with a discussion on lessons learned and future opportunities for collaboration beyond AdriaClimPlus. Partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing cross-border cooperation and further developing the knowledge, tools and partnerships established through the project.
The event confirmed that effective climate adaptation requires not only scientific excellence, but also strong cooperation between research institutions, public authorities and local communities to address the growing climate challenges affecting the Adriatic basin.
