The TIMELESS ADRIATIC project has officially entered a new and exciting phase with the launch of its creative hubs in the town of Grottammare. These hubs are designed to transform historic tower clocks from silent monuments into vibrant, multidisciplinary cultural generators. The primary objective of these hubs is to reactivate heritage, developing youth ideas and engaging the community, bridging the gap between the artistic legacy of the past and contemporary civic life.
In other words, these hubs become experimental spaces for collective learning, shared storytelling and inclusive urban aesthetics. In this initial stage, the hubs serve as a vital platform for communication and engagement. Their goal is to spread the news about the project’s mission, stimulate public awareness, and invite residents and visitors to reflect on the core topics addressed by the project.
The journey began on July 24th and 25th in the evocative setting of the Vecchio Incasato (the historic upper town) of Grottammare. The first hub was hosted within the popular initiative "Giochi in Grotta". Organized by APS Spazio Ludico, this event transforms the medieval village’s alleys and squares into a massive open-air game room dedicated to role-playing and board games. A special thank you to APS Spazio Ludico should be extended, for hosting the project’s dedicated station during their event.
This first appointment provided a unique opportunity to interface with the local community and the many tourists visiting the coast. The team shared the project’s goals and future actions, sparking a shared reflection on the necessity of valorizing this unique heritage. These conversations went beyond simple history, encouraging participants to think deeply about the concept of time and its impact on Adriatic lifestyles.
The activity in Grottammare is only just beginning. Two more activities are scheduled to take place in the Vecchio Incasato:
-
August 21st, starting at 21:30, within the framework of the Festival Liszt.
-
August 24th, starting at 21:30, as part of "Storia del tempo, tempo di storia" (History of time, time of history), a cultural walk led by Ing. Oronzo Mauro that offers a historical and scientific view on time and clocks.
The project’s cross-border mission continues to expand. Creative hubs have been launched in Rovinj with an initiative for children (read more in the article “Ready, steady… Let’s Play!: Time Becomes Theatre” in the News section), and more will be activated soon. By creating these mirrored spaces of creation on both sides of the Adriatic, TIMELESS ADRIATIC continues to build a shared identity rooted in our common history and future visions.
