GECO 2.2 upgrades its digital platform to support transparent and efficient carbon assessment

A reliable digital platform is essential to transform scientific innovation into practical solutions for farmers, institutions and future carbon market actors. As part of Work Package 2, GECO 2.2 has completed a major upgrade of its digital platform (availabe here: https://geco2.iamb.it), providing a more efficient, transparent and interoperable environment for managing the entire carbon assessment process.
The upgraded platform acts as the operational hub of the GECO 2.2 system, supporting every stage of the workflow—from questionnaire management and data collection to validation, calculation execution, results visualisation and reporting. While the Carbon Calculator remains the scientific engine of the system, the platform orchestrates all operational processes, ensuring that information is collected, validated and managed in a structured and traceable way.
The new architecture introduces significant improvements in workflow governance, data quality, interoperability and user experience. Dedicated dashboards, secure REST APIs, automated questionnaire management and integrated validation services make the assessment process more intuitive and reliable for all authorised users. At the same time, advanced traceability and audit mechanisms guarantee transparency and accountability throughout the entire lifecycle of every carbon assessment.
By strengthening the digital infrastructure behind the project, GECO 2.2 lays the foundations for a scalable and interoperable platform capable of supporting the implementation of voluntary carbon markets and future carbon farming initiatives. The upgraded system demonstrates how digital innovation can simplify complex assessment processes while maintaining high standards of reliability, transparency and operational efficiency.
