Ecotourism has emerged as a nature-based branch of the larger tourism industry that aims to conserve the environment and sustain the well-being of local communities. At its core is the philosophy that visiting natural areas should benefit the local economy and foster respect between guests and hosts.
A key aspect of developing ecotourism is undertaking participatory stakeholder mapping to ensure diversity and inclusiveness in planning.
The ETHNIC project carried out stakeholder mapping exercises across four partner territories. This document is an analysis and commentary on the stakeholder mappings conducted for:
- Mountain Union Montefeltro, Italy;
- Romagna area/Atlantide, Italy;
- Dugopolje, Croatia; and
- Ravni Kotari, Croatia.
ETHNIC New Eco-touristic Training Modules
Capitalizing on the STEFAN and EXCOVER project from the previous period, project ETHNIC developed 4 new traning modules for eco-touristic stakeholders covering topics of:

- cultural and natural heritage
