Voices from the Adriatic: Small Businesses Shaping a Circular Economy

This report shares the voices of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), research centers, and public bodies from across the Adriatic region. They talk about their challenges and opportunities in moving toward a greener, more digital future in the “blue economy” — industries linked to the sea, like marine energy, maritime safety, and coastal infrastructure.

The interviews reveal what these businesses need most: new technologies, stronger ties with universities and research, better funding, and practical roadmaps for innovation. They also show optimism — many SMEs see growth in sustainability, collaboration, and cross-border projects as the way forward.

In simple terms, the document captures how local companies are turning the tide toward greener seas and smarter business, and what support they need to make it happen.
