PEPSEA’s first publication is OUT!

A small step for the PEPSEA project partners, a big leap for the preservation of the Adriatic Sea

The Adriatic Sea, known by tourists from all over the world for its famous Italian and Croatian seaside, is in this historical period one of the most polluted sea in the world. The causes of this natural disaster are multiple but with one common element: the human presence.

Port Activities, ships that sail the Adriatic waters every day and dump most of the waste onboard into the sea, plastic marine litter whose traces have been found in 91% of the sand of the Adriatic coasts. Not to mention the Po delta which collects the waters of the most polluted rivers in Italy (full of industrial and sewage effluents) and disperses them into the Adriatic Sea currents.

All these factors have a serious impact on Croatian and northern Italian coasts!

That’s why PEPSEA project team decided to sensitize a wide number of Adriatic maritime stakeholders showing them, thanks to the PEPSEA pilot sites, the impact of human pressure on marine pollution, the associated environmental risks, and how these ones can be afforded.

These pilot sites are the leading actors of the first PEPSEA publication: "Adriatic Sea - coastal environments and PEPSEA pilot areas". A short booklet to discover the worthy locations of our Adriatic Sea and to understand how small changes can lead to big achievements towards a more considerate sea use.

This first publication is already out both in its printed and online form.
Here you can browse the pages of the publication directly on your PC or smartphone (both in English, Italian and Croatian language).

Moreover, during the activities foreseen for the formation of the FLAG Coastal Action Group of Chioggia and Po Delta concerning the territory referable to the maritime compartment of Chioggia (composed by Municipalities of Chioggia, Rosolina, Porto Viro and Porto Tolle), our Partner Po Delta Veneto Regional Park organized a meeting during which the first PEPSEA publication was distributed.

With this action, all the members of the Coastal Action Group of Chioggia and Po Delta, all the Harbor Authority of Chioggia, and all the local citizens who attended the event join the fight of PEPSEA Project.
