In Chioggia the pilot site of the MoST project to monitor the coastal aquifers and their permeability to the saline seawater.

On the 11th of October, at the pumping station of Ca’ Bianca in Chioggia, a presentation of the MoST project “Monitoring Sea-water intrusion in coastal aquifers and Testing pilot projects for its mitigation” will be held. MoST is part of the INTERREG Italy Croatia 2014-2020 European Program of which the Veneto Region is a partner, along with the Adige Euganeo Land Reclamation Consortium, the CNR and the University of Padua (lead partner).
The meeting will be attended by the Italian and Croatian representatives of the project, whose scope is to monitor the infiltration of the sea salinity into the coastal aquifers and to develop pilot projects for the mitigation of saline intrusion. This occasion will, therefore, signal an important moment of exchange of information between the project partners, during which the problems and impacts on irrigation will be illustrated.
The meeting will also include a visit to a special infrastructure in Chioggia, built by the Adige Euganeo Land Reclamation Consortium on a land plot of approximately 42 ha, on which agronomic and hydrogeological monitoring is currently underway.
