New airport service for cycle travelers presented on May 29th 2023, at the Salento Airport of Brindisi.

The presentation event for the new airport service for cycle travellers was held on Monday 29th of May in the presence of journalists. Implemented at the Salento Airport by the Puglia Region's Department of Transport, the pilot action of the Interreg MIMOSA project, dedicated to bicycle passengers, includes the "bike facility point" – area equipped for assembling and disassembling bicycles and online information.

The inaugural event was attended by Anna Maurodinoia, Councillor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility - Puglia Region, Antonio Maria Vasile, President of Aeroporti di Puglia S.p.A., Francesca Arbore, Head of the Sustainable Mobility and LPT Supervision Section - Puglia Region, Patrizio Summa, Special Projects Director - Aeroporti di Puglia.

The initiative, financed by the Puglia Region with funds from the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme 2014-2020 and implemented in agreement with Aeroporti di Puglia, represents the pilot action of the MIMOSA project on multimodal and low environmental impact cross-border transport, in which the Sustainable Mobility Section of the Region is a project partner.

With the Bike Facility Point of the Salento Airport, the Puglia Region completes the intermodality system designed and implemented in collaboration with Aeroporti di Puglia. This is confirmation of the decision to address sustainable mobility and cycle tourism by investing in integrated infrastructure for intermodality and making connections between city centers and places of interest with airports, ports, railway stations and bus terminals increasingly easier.

The Bike Facility Point responds to the needs of the cycle traveler and allows the Salento airport to reach high levels of quality standards in the services offered.
