From Risk to Solution: AcquaGuard webinar series on Nature-based Solutions for flood prevention

How can local and regional authorities move from understanding flood risk to selecting, planning and implementing effective solutions?
The AcquaGuard project invites stakeholders, public authorities, practitioners and experts to join a two-part online webinar series dedicated to Nature-based Solutions for flood prevention and climate resilience.
The webinar series reflects the wider AcquaGuard approach, which combines climate-risk assessment, stakeholder involvement, decision-support tools and practical planning of Nature-based Solutions to strengthen the capacity of local and regional authorities to respond to flood risks.

The first webinar, “Governance and policy in flood risk management”, will take place on 5 October 2026. The session will examine the governance dimension of flood resilience, including the role of public policies, institutions and cooperation among stakeholders. The programme will include a panel discussion with representatives of The Nature Conservancy, WWF, Unione della Romagna Faentina and the Municipality of Cavallino Treporti.
The second webinar, “Solutions in Practice: Tools, technologies and cases”, will take place on 12 October 2026 and will focus on concrete implementation experiences. Participants will hear about urban stormwater management through the restoration of Maksimir Park in Zagreb, climate adaptation planning for the industrial area of Padua, river sidearm restoration in Kopački rit, as well as experiences from the DesirMED, OPTAIN and NATURED projects.
Both webinars will begin at 09:30 CET and will be held online via Zoom.
The sessions are designed to support knowledge exchange and replication, connecting policy, planning and practical experience in order to encourage wider application of Nature-based Solutions for flood-risk management.
