AltRoute partners meet in Jasenice

Partners of the AltRoute – Alternative Tourism Paths project met in Jasenice, Croatia, for a new partner coordination and Steering Committee meeting.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the activities implemented during the first project period and to coordinate the next steps in developing sustainable tourism experiences based on local traditions, gastronomy, cultural heritage and community involvement.
From planning to implementation
During the first months of the project, partners laid the foundations for the development of three tourism itineraries, involving local stakeholders and identifying experiences, traditions and resources that will form part of the joint AltRoute tourism offer.
An important part of the first project period was also dedicated to the preparation of the joint methodology for workshops, which will guide activities focused on traditional food and drinks, zero-waste souvenirs and cooking experiences.
Partners also reviewed the first pilot enogastronomy festivals, which brought local producers, traditional products, workshops and community activities together and provided valuable experience for the development of future AltRoute activities.
What comes next?
The next project period will focus on turning the work completed so far into concrete experiences and materials.
Partners discussed the further development and finalisation of the three AltRoute itineraries, as well as the organisation of upcoming workshops and the preparation of the joint evaluation of pilot activities.
Special attention was given to the upcoming cross-border youth camps, including the Youth Camp Methodology, proposed dates, participants, programmes and organisational arrangements. These activities will bring young people together and encourage the exchange and transfer of traditional knowledge between generations and across borders.
Another important step will be the development of multimedia and educational materials. Partners will collect and document recipes, photographs, videos, interviews and traditional knowledge from their local communities, creating content that will help preserve and promote local heritage.
Coordinating the next steps
The Steering Committee also reviewed project and financial management, communication and dissemination activities, project results and target groups, upcoming deliverables and deadlines, as well as potential implementation risks.
Responsibilities and next steps were agreed among the partners, together with upcoming online coordination activities and the next partner meeting, which will be hosted by CIVIFORM.
Through the next phase of AltRoute, partners will continue transforming local traditions and knowledge into sustainable tourism experiences while strengthening cooperation between communities in Croatia and Italy.
