Final conference in Comacchio

The final event of the bePrepARed project took place in Comacchio, Italy, from 23 to 25 September 2026, bringing together project partners and stakeholders to reflect on the project’s achievements and strengthen cooperation on climate change adaptation across the Adriatic region.
The Final Conference, held on 23 September at Manifattura dei Marinati and hosted by the Emilia-Romagna Region, brought together representatives of institutions and organisations working in the field of climate change adaptation.
The conference focused on project results, partners’ experiences and lessons learned, as well as opportunities for continued cooperation and knowledge exchange across the Adriatic.
The first part of the conference presented the key results of the bePrepARed project, including the development of a common strategy for the governance and implementation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), the implementation of Action Plans and pilot activities, capacity-building activities, and communication, education and awareness-raising activities.
Particular attention was given to the experiences gained through the implementation of project activities in different areas of the Adriatic region. Partners presented the results achieved and approaches that can provide a basis for further action in the field of climate change adaptation.
The second part of the event focused on networking and cross-fertilisation, bringing together experiences from other initiatives and projects addressing climate change. Discussions covered climate trends in the Mediterranean, adaptation in protected natural areas, coastal resilience, citizen engagement, and the protection of natural and cultural heritage.
The final event also included capacity-building activities for project partners, focusing on the exchange of knowledge and experience related to climate risks, adaptation, natural resource management, and the protection of natural and cultural heritage. The field activities provided an opportunity to further explore the Po Delta area, the Comacchio lagoon and coastal areas, as well as concrete examples of the impacts of climate change.
The conclusion of the bePrepARed project marks an important moment to reflect on the results achieved, while also looking ahead to continued cooperation among institutions and organisations working towards more resilient communities and territories.
Through knowledge exchange, capacity building and stronger connections among stakeholders, the project has contributed to creating a stronger foundation for future climate change adaptation activities across the Adriatic region.
