Facilitation of youth engagement

Facilitation of youth engagement processes

The DEMY-Coop project was aimed at raising awareness about the benefit of cross-border cooperation for a better, more meaningful youth engagement in strategic decision-making processes.

The Awareness Raising Campaign encompassed the creation of a campaign concept and slogan, a visual identity to accompany the campaign's tools, a newsletter, a brochure, storytelling videos and testimonials, media relations and social media coverage.

Also, local authorities in Italy and Croatia were facilitated in understanding the legal and administrative mechanisms to activate a youth-responsive decision-making. With their help, the project identified the procedures that could help these processes.

An accurate and extensive mapping of youth organisations residing in Italy and Croatia area helped to identify best practices of youth development, empowerment and cooperation. The document also includes an assessment of the regulations promoting youth organisations in Europe and in the Interreg Italy-Croatia cooperation area, focusing on critical issues to be solved.

A cross-border participatory governance model on youth engagement was produced, underlining the importance of youth inclusion in decision-making practices. The model paves the way for a governance that is not only responsive to immediate societal needs, but also capable of evolving and adapting to future challenges.

A cross-border participatory governance model

A Cross-Border Participatory Governance Model

The DEMY-Coop actions brought to testing and endorsing a cross-border participatory governance model based on the increased capacities of Italian and Croatian local authorities and youth organisations to collaborate and co-design strategic policies in a cross-border cooperation perspective.

The cross-border participatory governance model was designed harvesting information about best practices from crucial EU Territorial Cooperation initiatives and pitting them against the needs, challenges and expectations identified at local level through the Cross-Border Youth Fora organised in the third and last period of project implementation.

A final guideline document was produced, including takeways from best practices and policy recommendations for a better youth engagament in strategic decision-making processes.
