DEMY-Coop closing event held in Campobasso

20/12/2024

The DEMY-Coop Lead Partner, Eurelations EEIG (IT), organised the project's Final Conference in Campobasso (IT) in hybrid form. The event took place on 18 December from 10:00 to 13:30.

The event had a high level profile and saw the participation of EU and EUSAIR stakeholders such as DG REGIO, the Greek EUSAIR Presidency, the EUSAIR Facility Point Slovenia also represented by the EUSAIR Youth Council coordinator, the Adriatic Ionian Youth Network and some local youth organisations. The conference was publicised on the EUSAIR website, which is proof of the acknowledgement  to its high-level profile (Link in the box).

The DEMY-Coop Final Cross-Border Conference "Engaging youth through territorial cooperation" focused on discussing youth engagement initiatives as undertaken by EU, EUSAIR, Programme and local level in the framework of territorial cooperation. The aim of the event was to raise new generation's awareness of European issues such as active citizenship, associationism, participation to decision-making processes and coopeeration, as to offer a new scenario of opportunities for young people aspiring to invest their future in the EU-funded cooperation.

The Conference was also an occasion to recapitulate the project's achievements and to present the results of the activities undertaken in 17 months of project implementation. The DEMY-Coop partnership put particular emphasis on how the good results of the stakeholder engagement actions and in engaging local youth were capitaliased in the project's third and last implementation period, including the organisation of two successful Cross-Border Youth Fora in Italy and Croatia.

The DEMY-Coop Final Cross-Border Conference was quite successful and involved more than 100 attendees, mostly high-school students, as well as three local youth organisations: giovanichimere Forum Giovani Città di Isernia and Fuori Teca. These three very different organisations were invited to learn about EU projects and Territorial Cooperation, while getting the chance to connect and network also in view of possible future collaboration. The three organisations presented their priorities and objectives and explained how through collective engagement young people can voice and turn their opinions, hopes and ambitions into action

Through a final interactive poll, the DEMY-Coop project had the chance to collect young attendees' recommendations to decision-makers on how to incentivise youth engagement.

Three key takeways summarise the polls:

  • decision-makers should be open to youth to gain young people's trust
  • decision-makers should acknowledge young people's voices, concerns and ambitions
  • engagement needs collaboration tools and permanent consultation
