Review of the existing policies / practices for water landscapes governance in targeted natural and cultural landscapes

Revision of all existing policies and tools for landscapes governance in targeted areas 

Scenarios of climate change related effects on targeted areas, focusing risks and impacts on water landscapes

Systematization of information and analysis of patterns in water management in the light  of  the potential evolution of water demand for the different economic and social uses

Local stakeholders mapping and needs assessment

Identification and networking all the institutional and social / economic stakeholders of the territorial communities addressed by the project

Sharing information of the state-of-art about sustainability in the use of water stocks for different civil, social and economic uses

Raising awareness of the relevant institutions in charge of territorial policy making and of the social and economic stakeholders on data about water use and water saving practices

Output for Work package 1 - Assessing the risk for natural and cultural landscapes

A STRATEGY FOR ADAPTATION AND MITIGATION

Within Work package 2 -  A Strategy for adaptation and mitigation the goal is to improve the institutional and social awareness on the effects of climate change on natural and cultural landscapes and on local economic activities, by exchanging good practices in their management and mitigation.

The final output achived:

• Territorial regeneration cross-border general Strategy and action plans on water landscapes for climate change adaptation

Elaboration of guidelines for sustainable ecosystem - based regeneration of the natural and cultural territorial landscapes

Elaboration of transdisciplinary guidelines for sustainable regeneration of cultural and natural landscapes, considering the new challenges posed by the effects of climate change, on the management of territorial settlements.

Designing and adoption of a cross - border strategy and tailored Action Plans

Development of a cross-border Strategy and Action Plans for territorial regeneration, sustainable water governance and improved ecological management, through participatory working groups

Establishment of working groups at local level

Establishment of a working group composed by the stakeholders, in each local context

Communication to institutional stakeholder (at regional scale)

Regional workshops will engage institutions and the general public in promoting the cross-border Strategy and Action Plans, fostering shared understanding and support for climate adaptation, natural and cultural regeneration, and sustainable water governance

CLIMATE-ADAPTATION AND MITIGATION SOLUTIONS FOR DIFFERENT ECO-SYSTEMS

Within Work package 3 -  Developing and testing integrated climate adaptation and mitigation solutions, including material and non - material nature - based interventions, to improve ecological and social resilience in different ecosystems, actively involving local communities and institutional actors, thus better equipped to cope with the impacts of climate change.

Adoption of NBS for targeted man-made ecosystems & communities

Testing multifunctional Nature-Based Solutions to restore ecological and landscape networks and address climate-related risks, including erosion, droughts, floods and urban heat

Non-material NBS solutions aimed at improving site ecological management

Testing and implementing site-specific management solutions to improve climate resilience, biodiversity, ecological monitoring and flood risk management, with approaches applicable across the Italy–Croatia border and the wider Adriatic Basin

Capacity Building paths for the institutional local stakeholders

Delivering an online capacity-building programme to transfer project practices and strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders to develop and implement climate adaptation, mitigation and sustainable energy strategies and plans, through local, national and cross-border training sessions

Educational and sensitization actions on Climate Adaptation solutions

Implementation of awareness-raising and educational activities to strengthen local stakeholders’ understanding of sustainable water management and climate-related risks, including info-days for enterprises and environmental associations and educational activities for students

Material and non-material NBS for man-made ecosystems & communities and improve site ecological management
