AcquaGuard at Youth4Sea in Ancona: contributing to the future of Italy-Croatia cooperation

The AcquaGuard project participated in Youth4Sea – Ideas for the future of Italy-Croatia Cooperation, the Interreg Italy-Croatia Annual Event 2026 held in Ancona on 25 May 2026.
The event brought together young people, project beneficiaries, institutional representatives and Programme actors to reflect on youth engagement, territorial cooperation and the future of the Interreg framework after 2027. Discussions focused on the importance of involving young people not only as a target group, but as active contributors to governance, communication and project implementation.
AcquaGuard actively contributed to the event through the participation of Fabio Favilli from CMCC, who represented the project in the “Young Voices” discussion together with representatives of other Interreg Italy-Croatia funded projects. His contribution presented the AcquaGuard experience and highlighted the value of inclusive, forward-looking and participatory cooperation.
The event also opened a broader discussion on future Interreg priorities, with particular attention to making cooperation processes more accessible, impactful and connected to the needs of younger generations. In this context, AcquaGuard’s participation was an opportunity to link the project’s work on climate adaptation, Nature-based Solutions and stakeholder engagement with the wider Programme debate on the future of cross-border cooperation.
