AcquaGuard Stakeholder Event in Venice: working together towards more climate-resilient communities

13/05/2026

The AcquaGuard project held its 4th Stakeholder Engagement Meeting and 3rd Joint Promotional Event on 11 May 2026, on the historic island of Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice.

The event gathered more than 40 experts, stakeholders and institutional representatives from Italy and Croatia to exchange knowledge, experiences and good practices related to Nature-based Solutions, flood prevention and climate change adaptation. Participants included representatives of universities, regional and local authorities, cities, non-governmental organisations and professional institutions, all contributing to a shared discussion on how to strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable territories.

A key part of the event was dedicated to interactive discussions and a World Café workshop, through which participants actively contributed to the development of 14 AcquaGuard Knowledge Capsules. By combining local experiences, expert knowledge and innovative approaches, the workshop supported the project’s efforts to create practical and transferable knowledge for the planning and implementation of Nature-based Solutions.

Set in the unique environment of the Venetian Lagoon, the event underlined the strong connection between natural heritage protection, ecosystem preservation and climate resilience. It also confirmed the importance of cross-border cooperation, stakeholder dialogue and joint learning in shaping sustainable solutions for the future.
