Subsea Monitoring Infrastructure for Detecting Freshwater Seepage in Sea and River Beds

Our Croatian partners have successfully implemented an advanced subsea monitoring infrastructure designed to detect and monitor freshwater seepage on the sea and river bed — a highly important but often invisible process in coastal and estuarine environments.
This newly deployed system is fully custom-made and equipped with multi-parameter probes capable of measuring key physical and chemical parameters in real time. By continuously collecting high-quality data directly from the underwater environment, the system enables scientists to better understand the dynamics between freshwater and saltwater below the surface.
In the coming weeks, we will share more technical details about the system — along with the first monitoring results directly from the field. These insights will provide valuable evidence for future research, policy-making, and sustainable water management across the region.
